Teaching and Master classes

Ms. Hensrud maintains a private voice studio both in NYC and on Long Island.  Since 2005 she has served as Adjunct Professor of Voice at Hofstra University instructing both undergraduate and graduate students in Classical Voice Training, Musical Theater and Cross-Over Styles emphasizing all aspects of technical development and tonal production through the study of traditional methods and repertoire. From 2017-2021, Ms. Hensrud served on the Voice Faculty at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN as Visiting Associate Professor.  Additionally she holds the Certification of Distinction in Vocal Pedagogy from the Vocal Pedagogy Professional Workshop through Boston Conservatory at Berklee, and Certificates of Completion from the CCM Vocal Pedagogy Institute at Shenandoah University (Contemporary, Commercial Music and Musical Theatre) and the Performing Arts Medicine Association in Vocal Performance.

Ms. Hensrud’s students are consistently awarded leading roles with prestigious Young Artist Programs throughout the country and top prizes in vocal competitions to include the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, Classical Singer Competition, National Association of Teacher’s of Singing Competitions, Long Island Masterworks Competition, Five Towns Music and Arts Competition, and others. Additionally, her students have been awarded leading roles and opportunities with prestigious Young Artist Programs including: Chatauqua Young Artists, Westchester Summer Vocal Institute, Delaware Valley Opera Young Artist Studio, New York Opera Studio, Spoleto Arts Festival, Spoleto, Italy, Centro Studio Lyrica, Urbania, Italy, Di Capo Opera Theater, Opera of the Hamptons, Regina Opera Company and others. Ms. Hensrud’s students have gone on to Undergraduate and Graduate study at the Boston Conservatory, The Juilliard School, Carnegie Mellon University, Mannes College of Music, Manhattan School of Music, Hart School of Music, Peabody Conservatory, Guild Hall (London, England), Rutgers University Opera Institute, Binghamton University, and Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University. Ms. Hensrud is in demand as a Master Class Teacher, Adjudicator and has served on the Faculty of several prestigious Summer Vocal Intensive Programs. Her expertise as an instrumentalist gives her special insight in the performing and coaching of vocal chamber music.  Her Musical Theatre students are heard on Broadway tours and in productions throughout the USA.
